80120Salt River Stallions
https://garyslane.zenfolio.com/blog/2022/4/salt-river-stallions
I made a trip to see the poppies blooming at Bartlett Lake, north of Phoenix. It was a beautiful morning with a slight breeze and mild temperatures that climbed into the 80's and this first week in April. Unfortunately, I found out that there had not been enough rains this year to create the fields of poppies. So, I decided to drive on down to the Salt River near Coon Bluff and see if I could get some nice shots of the wild horses. After walking about a mile upstream I was greeted by the smell of horses. And I knew I was getting close. As I moved down to the river, I spotted about 20 horses standing in the middle of Salt Creek. I spent a few hours watching and photographing them. A couple of stallions were challenging each other, and I was able to capture some images of that confrontation. Water and manes were flying, adding to the drama of the shot.]]> (Gary Slane - Wildfire Photography)fightinghorsesstallionswildhttps://garyslane.zenfolio.com/blog/2022/4/salt-river-stallionsFri, 08 Apr 2022 17:11:14 GMT
